Green Wedding for the Eco-Friendly bride

We have seen a wonderful trend of couple's interested in going green for their weddings. If you are confused about how to make a green impact, this inspiration board and the tips will help and inspire you!

Here are 10 ideas to help you plan a wonderful and memorable eco-friendly wedding.

1. Find a venue that allows you to do both the ceremony and reception at the same place so that you and your guests don't have to commute.

2. Collect mason jars or bottles to use as flower vases or candle holders for your tables' centerpieces.

3. Buy a consumable or a plantable wedding favour. Plantable favors are natural, reusable and can function as décor, placecards and favors at the wedding.

4. Don't buy any favours. Instead, donate money to your favourite charity in the names of each guest.

5. Use vendors that sources produce locally and buy flowers from the local market.

6. Use a wedding website to eliminate paper invitations.

7. Do not use disposables - ditch the disposable camera and the disposable dishes or flatware.

8. Go to an earth-friendly travel agent for your honeymoon - luckily there's a whole industry built around eco-tourism.

9. Use recycled paper to make wedding bouquet, fun boutonnieres or use them as backdrop as part of your wedding décor.

10. This may be the easiest but it is the hardest one for any bride - rent or opt for heirloom wedding dress. Renting, buying samples or second hand, upcycling an old dress are some options to finding the right wedding dress.

Ceremony Décor

Whether the wedding is at a church or a hotel, every bride wants to walk along an aisle that is beautifully decorated. As the guests arrive for the ceremony, aisle markers are usually the first thing they will notice before they take their seats. Just about anything goes when it comes to aisle markers as long as they coordinate with your wedding theme. Here are some of the ways to decorate the aisle.

Lots and Lots of Petals

All that glitters is probably gold..

Sequins

Sequin table linens are a trend that I am absolutely falling in love with and I think they are going to be very popular this year! I love the sparkle and the texture they add to the venue.

Although they are really nice to the eyes, they may not be practical for guest tables due to their texture and their hefty rental price! To get around that, I would recommend using them on highlight tables like Head Table or the cake table. You can also find sequin table runners that may be easy on the budget. Sequins are a perfect "statement piece" for any special event. Besides the neutrals colors like gold and silver, they also come in many different colors and best of all I have also seen them in chevron.

Let us help you add that sparkle to your special day. Contact me at info@albertaeventdeco.com if you want us to design and decorate your wedding.
